CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

Wash and Fold Press is currently seeking submissions for a book of art and writing, especially from WOMEN, QUEER, TRANS and NON-BINARY artists. Wash and Fold Press is a women-run press and the publication will be made by women, queer and trans designers, book-makers, printers and publishers.

Wash and Fold Press was created to bring these artists together, to encourage collaboration from content to production and to support their work.

 

The theme for this publication is

MILK AND HONEY.

Possible definitions of MILK:

The white juice of certain plants. "coconut milk"

To extract sap, venom, or other substances from.

To elicit a favorable reaction from an audience and prolong it for as long as possible.

A creamy-textured liquid with a particular ingredient or use. "cleansing milk"

 

Possible definitions of HONEY:

An excellent example of something

A sweet, sticky, yellowish-brown fluid made by bees and other insects from nectar collected from flowers.

Darling, sweetheart.

 

Possible definition of MILK AND HONEY:

Prosperity and abundance.

 

We are looking for:

Photographs

Paintings

Drawings

Fiction

Poetry

Essays

Nonfiction

OTHER

We hope you will be creative in your interpretation of the theme. Not sure if the work fits? Please submit it anyway.

The book will be released at New Fruit in the summer of 2017. Wash and Fold Press is in contact with some artists whose work will be featured in the publication. The rest of the work will be selected from this open call.


TO SUBMIT:

VISUAL SUBMISSIONS: Send 1-15 examples of your work as a compressed folder of images 800px on the long side at 72dpi, jpeg format, or a link to your work along with a bio of any length.

TEXT SUBMISSIONS: Send 1-20 pages of writing to as a pdf along with a bio of any length.
